1. Overheating Processor
OverheatingProcessor is one of the main causes that make your the computer to restarts itselffrequently. To check any occurrence of processor overheating can be done in several ways, including:
- Check the temperature condition from the Hardware Monitormenu in the BIOS.
- Using a temperature monitoring program such as CPUID Hardware Monitor
- Checking it manually, which is by opening the case and touch it toknow thetemperature of the ProcessorCooler.
- Fan conditions on the processor cooler that is not optimal (e.g., stalled due to dust)
- Stacked dust on the Processor Cooling fins, this is a common thing, especially if the room wherethe computer stored was dusty.
- Already dry or even lack of thermal paste between the CPU and the cooling fan.
- Hot conditions of the storage room where the computer was stored.
- Always clean the dust contained in the CPU casing and the Processor Cooler. This can be done by using a clean paint brush and a small vacuum cleaner.
- Using thermal paste as the connector of the CPU and CPU Cooler. For thermal paste that already dry, it should be replaced.
- Storing computer in the room that is not too hot (better air-conditioned). If had to keep computer in the room that is quite hot, then you should add extra fans to the CPU.
- Using a temperature monitoring program such as CPUID Hardware Monitor to get early warning on the conditions of Processor overheat. The screenshootcan be seen in the picture below:
The second cause why computer is often to restart by itselfwas a lack of power or is that the Power Supply which supply power to the CPUnot working optimally. This could occur, for example due to a breakdown or because of a fan that contained in the power supply is broken, resulting in overheating on the components of the Power Supply. If you feel suspicious about the performance of the installed Power Supply, you should first replace the power supply with another Power Supply which proved to work well. For the purposes of recent computer, you should useat least a Power Supply with a minimum of 530 Watt power.
3. Damaged graphic card
Computer that often to restarts by itself can also occur due to damage to the graphic card installed in the AGP or PCI slot. Usually damagedgraphic card will get hot in the coolant quickly, otherwise it damaged the display of the image on the monitor screen. Therefore, if your computer restarted frequently by itself, it is better to check these components also.
4. Bad Sector on the Hard Drive
A damaged hard drive or even if there are bad sectors in it can cause the computer to hang, bluescreen of death messageoccurrence or the computer can not boot properly and keeps restarting. To prevent any further damage and also to repair the hard drive, we can run the scandisk/checkdiskprogram , defragment your hard drive on regular basis, and be sure to always turn off the computer by pressing the shutdown button.
5. Damaged RAM
Damaged RAM can also cause frequent computer restarts, I have ever experienced it just some time ago. At that time the computer always restart when I turn it on, even though I have made sure there are no issues with the other hardware, the computer still can not boot and always restarting even thoughwhen I make it into windows safe mode. Then I replace the RAM, and the computer finally able to run normally again.
So that was some of the causes and how to fix computer that frequentlyrestarts by itself, hopefully it can be much help.
